Addition to a Theater

2 stories with a basement -22,000 s.f

Salina, Kansas

The original Kephart Theater was located on a very restrictive site, so the exterior of the building was designed to create a vibrant visual identity to open the activities of the building to the public streetscape with the intent of welcoming patrons and connecting the community. The façade of the new addition showcases a unique approach to signage, by abstractly creating the letter S, C and T within the materials and textures. At night, this feature really shines and is lit up with a vibrant display of lighting with a state-of-the-art technology system that allows the owner to change the display whenever and to whatever they please. A notable design feature as you enter the new addition, is the magnificent 2-story tall lobby and gathering space which is wrapped with grand staircase that leads to a mezzanine level of the lobby. Another unique feature of this building, was the addition of a Black Box Theater.
