Addition to a Theater

2 stories with a basement -22,000 s.f

Salina, Kansas

The original Kephart Theater was located on a very restrictive site, so the exterior of the building was designed to create a vibrant visual identity to open the activities of the building to the public streetscape with the intent of welcoming patrons and connecting the community. The fa├žade of the new addition showcases a unique approach to signage, by abstractly creating the letter S, C and T within the materials and textures. At night, this feature really shines and is lit up with a vibrant display of lighting with a state-of-the-art technology system that allows the owner to change the display whenever and to whatever they please. A notable design feature as you enter the new addition, is the magnificent 2-story tall lobby and gathering space which is wrapped with grand staircase that leads to a mezzanine level of the lobby. Another unique feature of this building, was the addition of a Black Box Theater.
